Merry Christmas

Christmas is finally here!  My Christmas started with a much needed nap after a busy night.  There was a steady stream of admissions and cross coverage to take care of.  The 1st part of the shift was not very busy but once at approach midnight I was called with 4 admissions plus a 5th around 430.  Once I stopped taking admissions around 6:00 a.m. and signed out to my colleague at 7:00 a.m., I left the hospital as quickly as I could.  I always seem to have more than enough steam to get home.  However, as soon as I get in the shower, I am exhausted and can barely keep my eyes open!

I woke up to my son being plopped down on my chest by my wife.  We were both excited to see each other.  Although today, he wanted to give me a quick hug before he jumped right off the bed to explore.  I a dinner with my family which was great.  I do not have any pictures, but we ate broiled turkey breast, broiled balsalmic Brussels sprouts and potato casserole.

We had our gift exchange which was fun! Luka had a blast opening his gifts.  He got a few Montessori toys including puzzles, some new clothes and a few new sleepers.  A few of the items were really big but I know that he will grow into them very quickly.

Due to my poor planning, none of my presents arrived on time.  Except for 1 thing, a mother and child matching marina wool slipper set.  One thing about my wife, she loves warm soft clothing in the winter.  Several of the items will arrive shortly after Christmas but I wish I could have had been ready for the holiday.  I will do better next time.  She was not upset about it at all.  To be honest, we had to beat our wish lists out of each other.  We both have the mutual understanding that we have everything we want and creating an experience for our son is most important.

Before I get too mushy, I have to tell you the other idiotic thing I did lol.  Our gift idea was to create a list of 5 items that we wanted with links to the website to make the purchase.  I accidentally set my wife the wrong link and she bought me a gift that I already have.  I know, I'm a mess but I will get it together...  Eventually.

My brother-in-law and his wife showed everyone up this year.  They got my wife and myself coach accessories.  I got a coach belt and she received a coach purse.  They also got Luka some out fits as well.  Now I really need to step my game up.  Not from a materialistic or people pleasing standpoint: I simply would like to be more generous and thoughtful.  I realize that the only way that I can be successful in this effort is to be my best self, by putting my best foot forward when I can and to put a foot forward when I am not able to contribute my very best for consistency sake.

Merry Christmas All!
